Damavand Peak, a single and cone mountain, in the heart of the mountainous land of Iran, is the largest natural attraction in the Middle East and the main destination of many tourists every year. This legendary mountain with an altitude of over 5,600 meters and higher than the Everest Base Camp, with the scenery of the largest lake in the world, the Caspian Sea in the north, and the central desert of Iran in the south, located in 70 kilometers northeast of Iran’s capital, Tehran.

  • Day 1: Arrive Iran via Tabriz International Airport, sightseeing Tabriz
  • Day 2: Driving Tabriz to Shabil (~ 2800 m) on the foot of Sabalan Mountains
  • Day 3:Climb to the Bargah Hoseiniy hut 3600 m
  • Day 4: Acclimatization day
  • Day 5: climbing Mount Sabalan 4811 m (third highest summit in Iran)

TOUR FULL ITINARY

  • Day 1: Arrive Iran via Tabriz International Airport, sightseeing Tabriz

Arriving Tabriz in the early morning (Arrival via Istanbul to Iran, Scheduled flight with Turkish airlines from most of the countries to Istanbul to Tabriz), transfer to hotel, city tour, sightseeing Bazaar. Tabriz is the capital of the Iranian province of Azerbaijan. Worth seeing is the Blue Mosque and the Municipality palace museum & clock tower. In the afternoon, visit of the cave dwellings of Kandovan. Overnight at the hotel in Tabriz (B.B).

 

  • Day 2: Driving Tabriz to Shabil (~ 2800 m) on the foot of Sabalan Mountains

In the morning we drive to Shabil village at the foot of Mt. Sabalan, that known for its hot springs, in the field of Shahsavan Nomad. In the afternoon we take a walk in the surrounding mountains for better acclimatization. overnight in tents/ Metal container (full board).

 

  • Day 3:Climb to the Bargah Hoseiniy hut 3600 m

Today early in the morning we start climbing to the Bargah Hoseiniy hut 3600 m (the northeast side of Mt. Sabalan). Our luggage will carry by a jeeps to the lodge, so we have to carry only a light backpack. This is important for a good and comfortable acclimatization. We reach the hut in 3 to 4 hours. Overnight at Bargah Hosseiyni hut or tents (full board).

 

  • Day 4: Acclimatization day

We will climb to about 4000 m altitude slowly, have an hour rest then came back to our camp (full board).

 

  • Day 5: climbing Mount Sabalan 4811 m (third highest summit in Iran)

Before sunrise we begin the ascent Mt. Sabalan, the sacred mountain of the Zoroastrians. According to the legend Zoroaster has several years of meditating on the mountain. On the technically easy ascent route we reach the summit with its picturesque crater lake. After a long break at the summit, we descend to our camp, eating soup and going down to Shabil with jeeps. For recreation, depends on our time, we can take a dip in one of the hot springs. Overnight at hotel in Meshkinshahr town (full board).

 

  • Day 6: Driving to Masouleh village and Caspian coast

After breakfast we drive through the mountains to Masouleh, a more than a thousand years old mountain village near the Caspian Sea. Even the great Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri wrote rightly ” We came here to write, but cannot be written Masouleh, Masouleh Should be seen ” The unique architecture is also known as “The yard of the building is above the roof of the building below. It is the only place in Iran where there is no motorized transport of any kind, because it is simply not possible. Overnight at a local house (B.B).

 

  • Day 7: Driving in Caspian coast toward Roudbarak village at the foot of Alam kouh (4850 m)

We leave Masouleh towards Caspian Sea and ride the coast to Chaloos city. Lunch on the Caspian Seaside. From there it goes into the mountains to Roudbarak guesthouse, where we stay in the Iranian mountaineering federation guesthouse or local house in Roudbarak or Vandarbon (Half board B.D).

  • Day 8: Trekking to Hesar Chal base camp 3700 m

We drive by 4WD cars from Rudbarak/ Vandarbon to Tange Galoo (3000 m) on the mountain road. From here we now wander on foot through the picturesque and narrow gorge to Hesar Chal camp 3700 m. On a large mountain meadow, we set up our base camp surrounded by majestic four-thousand meter summits. Overnight in tents (full board).

 

  • Day 9: Acclimatization or climb to a four-thousand summit

What we climb the summit of the numerous surrounding four-thousand today, we decide on the spot. Lashgarak 4256 m or GordonKuh 4402 m, also exceeded the two summits is possible. From up there, we can enjoy a magnificent view of the Massif Alamkouh. Descent  base camp and overnight in tents. Alternatively, this day can be used as a rest day or bad whether reservation (full board).

 

  • Day 10: Ascent to AlamKouh 4850m (second highest mountain in Iran)

Today we ascent to AlamKouh 4850 m, the second highest mountain of Iran. After about 5 hours we reach the highest peak of the mountain on the Takhte Soleyman massif, via technically easy southern route. After extensive rest at the summit and taking photos, we descend to Hesarchal. Who wants to take it a little more smooth, can alternatively also climb the Marjikesh summit 4580 m. From Hesar Chal we walk back down to our vehicles that bring us to Vanderbon. Overnight in the IR mountaineering federation guesthouse or local house (full board).

 

  • Day 11: Driving in Caspian coast toward Polour village at the foot of Mt.Damavand

From Vandarbon we head to the Caspian Sea and on to Polour village on the foot of Mt. Damavand. Overnight in the Iranian federation guest house or local house in Polour 2400 m (Half board B.D).

 

  • Day 12: Ascent to Damavand hut 4250 m

Today we’ll transport with a 4WD drive car to Goosfandsara 3000 m on dirty mountain road, where the mules are load our luggages (per 2 persons one about 15 kg luggage) and we climb with  light day pack comfortably within 3 – 4 hours to Bargah-e-Sewom hut 4200 m. Overnight we stay at 6 persons bed room or tents, sleeping bag, mattress and down jacket are recommended (full board).

 

  • Day 13: Climb Damavand 5610 m

Before sunrise, we start with our ascent to Damavand. Over a wide ridge, it goes steadily over rough boulders up. If the first fumaroles come within sight, it is not far from the summit. After about 6 hours we reach the height of 5610 m, top of the Iran, Mt Damavand. Those who want to can still walk around the crater in half an hour. Often there are Iranian climbers to prepare for expeditions in the Himalayas. Then we get on the ascent route back to the hut. Overnight we stay in a 6-person bedroom or tent. A sleeping bag, mattress, and down jacket are recommended (full board).

 

  • Day 14: Back to Polour guesthouse and Hot Spring

Today after breakfast we’ll descend to Goosfandsara, from there with 4WD cars to Polour. possibly visiting the hot springs. Overnight at Polour guest house or local house (full board).

 

  • Day 15: Tehran, Bazaar, and Cultural Sightseeing

The whole day is to visiting the capital Tehran. Especially, worth visiting the Tajrish Bazaar for travel souvenirs. Pay a visit to the Niawaran or Sa’dabad palace in northern Tehran that served as the last shah residence. Finally, we enjoy Darband valley at the foot of the Tochal mountain range in the north of Tehran, where we can experience the culture and the buzz of our Persian friends. After dinner we will transfer the group to the Airport, we say you goodbye and you will fly back home (Breakfast included).

Health & Vaccinations

No need to have any special vaccination. There is no contagious disease in Iran. But for abroad holiday its better to do your regular health care and vaccination or teeth treatment before you travel.

Currency & Spending Money

The currency of Iran is the Iranian Rial. Most of places does not accept Paypal or International credit cards, So you must pay in cash, or you can use Iranian Debit Card. You can charge your Travel Debit Card  with local currency (You can charge this card ones (50 E, 100 E, 200 Euro or more) during your journey in Iran. We advise you to charge it until 300 euro before you visit museum, hot springs, market, shops and restaurant. With this  card you can easily pay everywhere and withdraw local currency from any ATM.
