Best Itinerary for climbing Damavand★★★★★
Damavand Peak, a single and cone mountain, in the heart of the mountainous land of Iran, is the largest natural attraction in the Middle East and the main destination of many tourists every year. This legendary mountain with an altitude of over 5,600 meters and higher than the Everest Base Camp, with scenery of the largest lake in the world, the Caspian Sea in the north, and the central desert of Iran in the south, located in 70 kilometers northeast of the Iran’s capital, Tehran. The best itinerary for good acclimatization and easy climb to Mount Damavand is Tochal-Damavand tour. Mount Tochal, with a height of 3960 meters, is in fact part of Tehran city. It’s a very good idea to spend a quiet night at the 2700-meter height in Sheripela hut with the best accommodation services in nice and warm rooms for acclimatization Damavand.
One night sleeping in the Shirapla hut and climbing Tochal, can provide a comfortable and safe climb to Damavand.

TOUR FULL ITINARY
Day 1: Arrive Tehran (I.K Airport), rest at hotel, Tehran sightseeing
Arriving Tehran I.K. Airport early morning, welcoming and regarding the group, transport to the hotel in center of Tehran. After a few rest, we’ll go to Tehran sightseeing tour. Tehran big Bazar, Golestan palace (UNESCO world Heritage), and Iran National Museum/Jewelry Museum. O /N at hotel.
Day 2: Trekking to Shirpala hut(~2700 m) at the foot of Tochal in the north of Tehran
After breakfast we’ll start to trekking Shirpala hut (~2700 m) at the foot of Tochal summit in north of Tehran via Darband valley route , it take about 3 hours trekking in very beautiful valley. After reaching to Shirpala hut you can walk around, acclimatization, and enjoy the scenes of Tehran metropolis. O /N in hut or 2 person tent.
Day 3: Climbing to Tochal summit (~3950 m), transport to Polour
After breakfast at early morning we’ll start climbing to Touchal summit. It takes about 4 hours trekking to summit. Afternoon we’ll descend to Tehran and transport to Polour village (~2400m) at the foot of Damavand. O /N at guesthouse or local house.
Day 4: Transport to Damavand base camp (Gosfandsara) 3000 m by 4WD cars, start trekking to Damavand hut from south route (Bargahe Sevom Shelter) 4250 m
After serving breakfast and leave our extra equipment in guesthouse, we transport to Gosfandsara by 4WD cars at 3000 m altitude (about 1/5 hour). There we leave our luggage (each 2person one 15 kg luggage) to mules or porters, and they carrying them for us to the Shelter. After about 4 to 5 hours we’ll reach Bargahe Sevom Shelter in 4250 m altitude and have a rest there. Bargahe Sevom was made in 2009 in 2 floors and has a few private rooms for rent with beds, small shop, public sleeping hall, dining hall, electrical equipment and etc. O /N in hut or 2 person tent.
Day 5: Acclimatization (or bad weather reservation) day
Today we have enough time for acclimatization and enjoy the scenes. After well sleeping , and serving breakfast we’ll start climbing slowly to about 4800 m altitude , and will have enough rest on our way, taking photo and etc. then descend to hut slowly. O /N at hut or 2 person tent.
Day 6: Summit day
After breakfast at early morning, we’ll start ascend to top of the Iran, Damavand summit (5671 m). It takes about 6 hours to reach summit. After reach summit you can see the Crater of old Damavand volcano (highest volcano in Asia) and enjoy scenes, taking memorial pictures. Then descend to hut (about 3 hours). O /N at hut or 2 person tent.
Day 7: Descend Polour and Hot Spring
After breakfast and pack our luggage, we’ll descend to Gosfandsara, there our 4WD transport us to Polour. Take a shower and collect the equipment. Go to Larijan local hot spring in 30 km distance from Polour. The most important of these hot springs are located in Abe Garm Larijan in a village by the name Larijan in the district of Larijan. The water from this spring is useful in the treatment of chronic wounds and skin diseases. Near these springs there are public and private baths with small pools for use. The main spring temperature is about 65 degree, but pools and bathrooms water is cooler. Afternoon we’ll transport the group to hotel in Tehran. Farewell dinner in one of the best restaurant in Tehran. O /N at Hotel.
Day 8: Fly back home
Depend on your flight time, we’ll transport the group to I.K Airport and you’ll fly back home.

IS THIS TOUR FOR ME?
This trip grading involves a MODERATE levels. These adventures involve trekking, cycling or mountain biking for up to 6 or 7 hours a day at a steady pace. You will need a good level of fitness and be in good health. The majority of our moderately graded treks involve the carrying of a day pack only, though some may involve carrying a full pack. Be prepared for potential variable weather conditions.
Damavand south route is not a technical climb. It just needs good health and stamina as well as ability to trek in altitudes.
