 Climbing highest summit in Iran & Highest volcano in Asia

Day 1: Arriving to Tehran (I.K Airport), Sightseeing Tehran

Arriving Tehran(I.K Airport). Transport to hotel and have a rest (depends on arrival time), and Tehran sightseeing. Afternoon transport to Polour village (2400 m) at the base of Damavand mount, overnight at I.R Mountaineering federation guesthouse or local house .


Day 2: Start trekking to Damavand base camp (Gosfandsara) in 3000 m altitude

After breakfast we’ll transport by the cars to the end of Asphalt road, there we start trekking to Gosfandsara base camp (3000 m). All the backpacks and luggage will carry on by 4WD cars to the base camp. After about 2 hours trekking with lightweight backpacks between the beautiful mountain flowers, we’ll reach to the base camp. There we’ll setting up our camp and we have enough time for hiking around and enjoy the nature and landscape. O /N at 2 person tent.


Day 3: Trekking to Bargahe Sevom (Bargah 3) hut in about 4200 m altitude

After breakfast at early morning we’ll collect our luggage and place them to the Mules (each 2 persons 1 luggage about 15 kg), and start trekking whit lightweight backpack to the Bargahe Sevom hut in about 4200 m. after about 5 hours we’ll reach the hut and have enough time for hiking around ,taking photo and rest. O /N in hut or 2 person tent.


Day 4: Acclimatization (or bad weather reservation day to summit Damavand

Today we have enough time for acclimatization and enjoy the scenes. After well sleeping , and serving breakfast we’ll start climbing slowly to about 4800 m altitude , and will have enough rest on our way, taking photo and etc. then descend to hut slowly. O /N at hut or 2 person tent.


Day 5: Summit day

After breakfast at early morning, we’ll start trekking to top of the Iran, Damavand summit (5671 m). It takes about 6 hours to reach summit. After reach summit you can see the Crater of old Damavand volcano (highest volcano in Asia) and enjoy scenes, taking memorial pictures. Then go back to hut (about 3 hours). O /N at hut or 2 person tent.


Day 6: Get down to Polour and Hot Spring

After breakfast and pack our luggage, we’ll descend to Gosfandsara, there our 4WD transport us to Polour. Take a shower and collect the equipment. Go to Larijan local hot spring in 30 km distance from Polour. The most important of these hot springs are located in Abe Garm Larijan in a village by the name Larijan in the district of Larijan. The water from this spring is useful in the treatment of chronic wounds and skin diseases. Near these springs there are public and private baths with small pools for use. The main spring temperature is about 65 degree, but pools and bathrooms water is cooler. Afternoon we’ll transport the group to hotel in Tehran. Farewell dinner in one of the best restaurant in Tehran. O /N at Hotel.


Day 7: Fly back home

Depend on your flight time, we’ll transport the group to I.K Airport and fly back home.

  • Outerwear:

Goretex jacket with hood (waterproof and breathable), Goretex/wind stopper pants (side zippers are convenient), Insulated parka, down or synthetic filled ,fleece or wool sweater, Fleece pants or tights, Mid-weight thermal underwear tops and bottom(synthetic or wool), Hiking pants, Long-sleeve shirts, T-shirts, synthetic are best, Underwear

  • Clothing Accessories:

Sun hat, Wool or fleece hat (over ears), Wool or fleece gloves, Thin liner gloves, Gaiters

  • Footwear:

Mountaineering boots( sturdy and ankle support, water-resistant) , types of Socks, Camp shoes( trail shoes or running shoes)

  • City Clothing:

Bring a few lightweight, easily washable items for travel and daily wear, Comfortable shoes, (Woman should wear long sleeve shirt, Scarf, long Shirt)

  • Travel Accessories:

headlamp (lithium batteries are best for cold weather), Pocket knife or pocket tool, Ear plugs, Small quantity of favorite energy snacks, Hiking staff or trekking poles, Small waterproof pack cover for daypack, Sunglasses with strap (side-shields or glacier glasses recommended), Sun block cream and lip balm, Personal hygiene supplies including biodegradable soap, Small quick-dry towel, Personal first aid kit, medicines, Hand sanitizer gel or hand wipes and etc

Physical Rating:
Level 5 (Moderate)

These adventures involve trekking, cycling or mountain biking for up to 6 or 7 hours a day at a steady pace. You will need a good level of fitness and be in good health. The majority of our moderately graded treks involve the carrying of a day pack only, though some may involve carrying a full pack. Be prepared for potential variable weather conditions.
Damavand south route is not a technical climb. It just needs good health and stamina as well as ability to trek in altitudes.
